ate there 12apr08 - service was extremely slow - our waiter was going in and out of room after room but had no food or dishes in his hand - he was hiding out. I ordered steamed clams - I never got them. They were not on the bill, but I never got what I ordered, and he never mentioned that he had never brought them. He was too busy doing nothing but walking around. The service was extremely slow. I finally asked where our meal was. We were never offered coffee or desert. The establishment was not crowded. Like I said, our waiter was not busy, he was hiding out, not working, not doing anything but walking around with his weird hair doo which did not impress us at all. The owner was busy cooking but it is his job to observe what is going on, past the stove. The lamb special was very good, the seafood fettucini with white sauce was good, with red sauce was too heavy in olive oil - swimming in it. The glass of wine - outrageously priced - big mistake in ordering a glass of wine - very brutal price. Cost more than a generous shot of whiskey elsewhere. Big hangup for me was the lack of service. He shows a total lack of caring or respect of the ones who pay his wage. Withoug people like us, he is out of a job. Will I return - very hard pressed to try again. Service was non existent. We were there long enough for a several course meal and got only one course - no salad, no appetizer, no coffee, no desert.

225 is a nice place with a lot of potential. The food is presented well and the service is great. 225 has a great wine / beer list, and the ambience is nice. However, I was disappointed with the tri tip we ordered for dinner. I was expecting more than just three smallish strips on the plate. I was also expecting it to be hot. I was let down. But the side dishes were excellent, and the service couldn't be better. Maybe I just visited on an off night. I would go back, but I'm afraid to order tri tip..... it was expensive as tri-tip goes. The FLAVOR of the meat was great - I truly loved the oak fired thing. I just wish I hadn't left so hungry and paid so much.
